Our 'Nelson - Tasman Bays' region

Lots of sunshine, blue skies and clean, clear water make this region a super place to enjoy or just relax.

Surrounding the urban areas of the Nelson - Tasman is a lattice of recreational parks, walkways and cycleways and we are bounded by three magnificent National Parks; New Zealand's smallest and most-popular, the maritime Abel Tasman; the stunning alpine surrounds of Nelson Lakes; and to the north-west, the extensive forests of Kahurangi.

As a cultural centre, we enjoy a feast of festivals, the Souter Art Gallery, School of Music and the Nelson Provincial Museum.

Recreationally this region also has it all too; both Active and Passive. From picturesque golf courses, sunny beaches and all the associated attractions like boating, fishing, swimming, diving, kyaking and sailing; through Happy Valley's sensational Flying Fox and quad bikes, hang-gliding, bungy jumping, jet boating and skydiving; as well as horse-trecking, mountain biking, bush walks and trout fishing; to wine and garden trails (not to forget the variety of mouth-watering foods catering for the most discerning palates).

Supporting the sunny fun side of Nelson Tasman is a strong economy. Fresh new ventures such as Aviation and Information Technology add to the well-established industries of fishing, forestry, agriculture and horticulture which continue to be successful on the international stage.
